🎾 Everything You Need to Know About Playtomic Levels and Rankings

As more padel clubs across Ireland adopt Playtomic, understanding how the platform calculates player levels has become increasingly important. These levels aren’t just numbers—they directly influence how matches are balanced, how open matches are grouped, and even how seeds are assigned in tournaments. Gaining a clear understanding of the ranking system can help you monitor your progress, find fairer matchups, and compete with greater confidence.

1. What is the Playtomic Level?

The Playtomic Level is a numerical representation of a player's skill in padel or tennis, ranging from 0 to 7. Upon creating a profile, players complete a questionnaire to estimate their starting level. This initial level adjusts over time based on match outcomes and performance.

2. How Does the Leveling System Work?

After each competitive match, Playtomic recalculates your level considering

Team's average level

Individual performance

Match outcome

Winning against higher-level opponents can boost your level, while losses to lower-level players may decrease it. The extent of change also depends on your reliability percentage.

3. What is the Reliability Percentage?

The reliability percentage indicates the confidence in your current level:

Low Reliability: Significant level changes after matches; the system is still assessing your skill.

High Reliability: Minor adjustments; the system has a solid understanding of your ability.

Reliability increases as you play more competitive matches.

4. What are the Different Levels in Playtomic?

Playtomic categorizes players as follows:

<1.0 (Initiation): No or minimal experience.

1.0–1.49 (Beginner): Learning basics.

1.5–2.4 (Initiation Intermediate): Gaining familiarity.

2.5–3.4 (Intermediate): Developed skills and basic tactics.

3.5–4.4 (Intermediate High): Confident with better strategies.

4.5–5.4 (Intermediate Advanced): Skilled in switching between attack and defense.

5.4–5.6 (Competition): Tournament participants.

5. How Do Competitive and Friendly Matches Affect My Level?

Only competitive matches influence your level and reliability. Friendly matches are for casual play and do not impact your level, even if results are recorded.

6. What Types of Rankings Exist in Playtomic?

Playtomic offers several rankings:

Global Padel Ranking: Cumulative points from all matches since joining Playtomic.

Club Ranking: Points earned from matches at a specific club.

Level Padel Ranking: Classification based on your current level compared to all players.

Points are awarded for victories, sets won, and participating as a guest, with bonuses for defeating higher-ranked opponents.

7. Why Did My Level Suddenly Drop?

Sudden drops can occur due to:

Losing to lower-level players.

Low reliability percentage, causing larger fluctuations.

System-wide recalibrations affecting multiple users.

Playtomic periodically updates levels across the platform, starting with higher levels and progressing downward.

8. Can I Manually Change My Level?

Yes, you can lower your padel level via the app:

Go to your Profile and tap on your level.

Select "Lowering Level" and then "Lower your level".

Choose the appropriate level and confirm.

Currently, only padel levels can be manually adjusted downward.

9. How Can I Get My Level Verified?

Visit a Playtomic-certified club to have your level assessed by a coach. This ensures accurate matchmaking with players of similar skill.

10. Where Can I View My Rankings?

To check your standings:

Open the Playtomic App.

Navigate to the "Competitions" module.

Select "My Competitions" to view ongoing leagues, points, and team stats.
